Background
The Client had a poor reputation for life and disability underwriting in its core IFA market. This was having a detrimental effect on its overall relationship with IFAs on non-protection business. Senior management in the firm were not well placed to thoroughly analyse the issues and an underwriting vs sales battle had commenced.
PMC Response
Our proposal was to conduct an underwriting audit. A key requirement was that the audit was credible across the organisation. The work we did started at the sales end looking at the true effects of the underwriting philosophy and competence. This formed one part of focus for the technical underwriting audit.
